Stamp-Shaped Pin Promoting Organ and Tissue Donation
2001
When seeing the Fence, it is common for people to feel the need to leave something there in remembrance. Whether this be the shirt off their back or a bracelet, the profound meaning of those spur-of-the-moment gifts might not be realized until later.
This USPS lapel pin champions the cause of organ and tissue donation. While it might have been left on a whim, it reminds us of the flood of volunteers to donate blood after the bombing and the ties that continue to bind us together. This is especially true when remembering Rebecca Needham Anderson, a nurse who passed away helping rescue survivors from the Murrah Building. Rebecca Needham Anderson donated her organs after death, showing the continual impact of the OKC bombing.
